Claude doesn’t search for you. It remembers you.

In February, Claude did not request a single page from Genymotion’s AI site. By the end of October, it was asking for more pages than ChatGPT. We discovered that Claude does not look you up in a search index like Google or ChatGPT. It remembers what it read in the knowledge of the model.

From zero to level with ChatGPT

Claude asked for more of Genymotion’s pages than ChatGPT in three of the last four weeks of October. ChatGPT’s own requests had already dropped in late August, after a change on OpenAI’s side. The climb is all Claude’s.

September 28: the day it changed

The jump came the week Anthropic moved Claude Code to its new 5.5 models. Claude’s page requests went from 33 that week to 97, then to about 200 a week through October.

This is many people, not one busy user. Since September 28, Claude Code has fetched Genymotion’s AI site from 251 different addresses: developers on their own machines, asking Claude about Genymotion.

Two ways to find a page

ChatGPT looks things up. It searches an index of the web, picks the pages that match, and fetches them. When a page is deleted, the index forgets it within a few weeks, and ChatGPT stops asking.

Claude often skips that step. It goes straight to pages it learned about in training, by address, the way you would type a URL you remember. That difference is important to understand if you rely on Claude Code to sell your product to developers.

Proof: Claude asks for pages that no longer exist

About 4 in 10 of Claude’s requests since September 28 went to pages Genymotion’s AI site had already retired. Many had been gone for months. ChatGPT asked for almost none of them.

The pattern holds across the site. For pages retired between March and June, ChatGPT asked for them 828 times in the three months before the launch and 3 times in the month after. Claude went the other way, from 22 to 124.

One read is enough

What decides whether Claude remembers a page is simple: did Anthropic’s crawler read it before the model’s training cut-off?

Of the retired pages the crawler had read, Claude has asked for 125 of 966, about 1 in 8. Of those it never read, Claude asked for 7 of 300. A single visit from the crawler in the spring was enough for Claude to keep asking in October, months after the page was gone.

The next model is being written now

The 5.5 models learned the web as it stood in June. Whatever Anthropic’s crawler reads on your site today is what the next Claude will know about you, and the pages it will ask for by name.

So getting into Claude’s answers is not only about this week’s searches. It is about what you put in front of the crawler before the next cut-off.

That’s where the AI site comes in

Genymotion’s AI site is the version of Genymotion built for assistants to read and remember: its answers, in its own words, at addresses that stay put.

Genymotion’s own website still gets most of Claude’s attention, and it barely moved through the launch (about 15% more requests). The AI site is where the growth went. Before the launch it drew 1 in 25 of Claude’s requests to Genymotion. By late October it drew nearly 1 in 5, and the share is still rising.

We can now see what the model looks for

Logs show what Claude fetched. To learn why, we run Claude Code on real buying tasks, the way a developer would, and record what it goes looking for, which vendors it considers, and why it picks one or passes over another.

That turns the next model from a guess into something we can work on. We can see what Claude believes about a company today, and shape what the AI site puts in front of the crawler before the next model is trained.

Claude is a channel now

In February, Claude did not ask Genymotion’s AI site for a single page. Today it asks for its pages as often as ChatGPT does, from hundreds of developers’ machines, and Anthropic’s crawler keeps reading it for the next model.

Claude does not search for you. It remembers you. The AI site is how Genymotion makes sure what it remembers is right.
